Research

Research scholars : Mr. Rhitobrata Bhattacharya, research on “Satyajit Ray and the Cannes Film Festival”, Supevisor: Dr. MoharDaschaudhuri, registered in July 2011

Projects : Translation of Marguerite Yourcenar’sLes Nouvellesorientales into Bengali.

Thrust areas in teaching and research of the academic department : French and francophone literature, literary translation and Women’s writing in French and Bengali (1970-1990)

Research support : Projector, funded by UGC Equipment Fund, XIth Plan

Major activities : Internation workshop on Canadian Francophone culture and literature was held in 2014, and another international workshop on Belgian culture and literature was held in 2015.

Additional information : Along with the Embassy of France and the InstitutFrancais, the Department has begun a teachers’ training monthly workshop called IFI, which is a Embassy sponsored programme throughout India. Between 2015-16, four workshops were held in the Kadambini hall of the Library building which has state-of-art facilities.
