This school is dedicated to
Prof. A. K. Choudhury (1923-1987)
Constructed India?s first analog Computer in 1952 using indigenous components. Started research in the emerging areas of Computer Science, Control Engineering, Switching and Automata theory, Digital Logic and Circuit Theory in the University from 1956. Founder professor in-charge of first Computer Centre in the University of Calcutta in 1970.It served whole of eastern and north-east zone and partly south zone of our country. Some of the organizations and institutes served include Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, IIM-C, Jadavpur University, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, DVC, Coal India, Positional Astronomy Center; North Eastern Hill University, Andhra University, River Research Institute, Kalyani University, Viswabharati University, Calcutta Port Trust. Founder Head of the Department of Computer Science in the University of Calcutta established in 1980. Guided about 50 PhD students who are holding top level responsible positions in institutions like IIT, IISc, ISI, JU, CU, BESU; foreign Universities like Bell Telephones (future lab), University of Ottawa (Canada), University of Texas at Arlington (U.S.A), and also in different industries in India and abroad.

Vision:
• To take a pioneering role in disseminating knowledge related to Information Technology in the national context and foster international standard R&D activities through active collaboration with reputed universities, institutes and industries.
• To create a dynamic environment that helps upgrade the knowledge of students and teachers in academic, research and development fields, and make our students a better fit in related industries and academics; there by contribute for the betterment of organization and society.

• Committed to collaborate with industries to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
• Promote the advancement of knowledge in Information Technology.

Mobile Computing Laboratory This Mobile Computing laboratory is good combination of simulation tools and wireless hardware tool kits. It has many expensive Laboratory instruments. The library complex caters to the needs of the students and faculty. It has maintained a good stock of text and reference books in Information Technology and allied subject. Students also have the facilities of the central journal library of the university, which maintains a continuous flow of Indian & Foreign journals of repute. It has also a good collection of journals on related subjects. It also has reprographic facilities.
