University of Calcutta has its Agricultural Experimental Farm at Baruipur functioning with 67 acres of land since 1967. The Farm provides valuable technical knowhow expertise to the students, research scholars, entrepreneurs and agricultural inputs to the farmers of the adjoining areas of the South 24 Parganas district . Among other important functions, providing high quality grafts of the fruit trees and high quality paddy seeds to the farmers need special mention. In addition to the above, we are conducting different field trials on fertilizer management, crop improvement, nursery management, varietal improvement and pest management etc. for the students of both M.Sc. and Ph. D level. Experimental trials on vegetable and floricultural crops are also undertaken at the Farm.
